#1 If you study more, you will get good marks

Being a student, I can absolutely say that this is wrong. Because, even if you study for 10 hours a day, there’s not gonna be any difference other than being stressed and failing. Even though I’m not Einstein or a very educated person, I can clearly say this.
It's not about the amount of hours you
spend learning, but about how you use the time wisely. So, plan your time before studying, and ace it!
#2 You will be able to remember all the content if you study at the last minute.

#3 Taking notes in a computer is much more efficient than handwritten notes
Now, you can take notes in a computer and some may find it effective (even I find it effective sometimes). But, research has shown that those who take notes by hand are able to remember the content more effectively than those who take notes in a computer or laptop. Another research has shown that taking notes by pen and paper helps you to recall the content.
#4 You should have a dedicated study area in order to study more effectively
In this case, I can’t completely say that this is a myth. Well it is a myth, but I can agree partially to this one. You can have a dedicated area which is specially for studying, but, it has been proven that it’s better if you do NOT study at one place all the time. A number of studies stated that the location helps with retrieval of memory. So, in my opinion this myth is partially true.
#5 If you study for exams at the earliest, you will forget it at the end
This is TOTALLY not true at all. The content is re-learned and thereby enhanced as the brain revisits old information that you felt you had forgotten. This is why you should start revising for exams early!
#6 You don’t need to take any notes as all the content is there in the notebook
Even if you have the lesson summarized in your textbook, taking notes helps you to understand and memorize the content more effectively. This is why sometimes teachers make us write answers to certain questions in our own words, because the more we write, the more we understand.
So, that’s enough debunking for today. If you want to continue this as a series, you can definitely contact me at studyholicblogs@gmail.com, it’s all good! Oh, and don’t forget to subscribe and follow this blog!
